02
First Session
Your first session, after your free consultation, will be a collaborative discussion to learn more about your therapeutic goals and to determine a treatment plan together with your therapist. The treatment plan will include the recommended frequency of sessions, the modalities that they will use, and an estimate of the time-frame to achieve your first goal. Your therapist takes a person-centered approach and may ask your questions about your background and medical history and/or conduct a biopsychosocial assessment. This is also called an intake.
03
Regular Therapy Sessions
Based on your treatment plan, you and your therapist will meet at a frequency you both agreed upon (e.g., once or twice a week). Most therapists begin with weekly sessions and may adjust the frequency based on your feedback. Throughout your care, your therapist will check in during each session to ensure the discussion aligns with your needs and that you feel heard and understood. Your therapist values all feedback, especially when you share concerns about unmet needs. If at any point you feel your therapist isn't a good fit, you have the right to choose another provider to work with.
04
Medication Management
If you and your therapist decide that it would be helpful to explore medication options, they’ll work with you to understand your needs and provide a referral to a prescriber who accepts your insurance, ensuring the process feels collaborative and supportive.
05
Higher Level of Care
If you and your therapist determine that a higher level of care is necessary to achieve your therapeutic goals—such as attending an inpatient residential facility, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), or Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)—your therapist will support you in the enrollment process and help create a plan to ensure continuity of care throughout your journey.
